Questions and Answers About the RVC Insurance Package

Insurance policy with a pen on it.

Please contact your RVC representative if you have specific questions about your insurance coverage.

Does the insurance include cancellation insurance for airline tickets?

  • Yes, cancellation insurance for airline tickets is included if the airline tickets are purchased through the RVC program.

If one of the participants can’t return with the group because of an illness or necessary hospital stay out of province, what happens?

  • The Group Organizer will contact the RVC representative to discuss the specific circumstances.

If one of the participants gets sick or is injured and requires medical attention, what is done and how does reimbursement happen?

  • If a member of the group gets sick or is injured and requires medical attention, the priority is to seek medical attention. The Group Organizer submits an Accident/Incident Report to RVC within 48 hours.
  • Payments for medical attention varies depending upon the province, the type of facility (doctor’s office, family medical clinic, hospital), and service(s) required.
  • Group Organizers should pay all required onsite costs and keep the receipts and the doctor’s report. Once the group has returned home, the participant’s parents should reimburse the person who paid and then submit a claim to their provincial or territorial health plan for reimbursement. When the expenses are not 100% reimbursable through the province or territory, a claim may be made as part of the Travel Guard insurance policy.
